The greedy crow

Out of boredom, I think I might want to upload another lame cartoon that I had produced for my coursework. It is about a crow who got greedy and lost everything.

Simple Cartoon

This cartoon clip was done during the C-PELT course that I attend in Feb-May 2011. It was a group assignment. My partner Roslind came with the story, characters and then we put it in a storyboard. I manage to draw the characters and the animation. It's quite dull since we had a very limited time to do it. But in the end we were both satisfied with the outcome. So, enjoy this lame cartoon.

SK NANGA MERURUN

Welcome to Merurun. Mururun is located about 7 km from Julau town, which is approximately 73 km from Sarikei. The journey to Nanga Merurun (the place on the right) from julau took about 10 minutes. Most of the transport to Merurun is only by 4WD. The picture on the right shows the road to Merurun. The photo was taken last year in August, so the road was a bit dusty. I learn about Merurun during my first posting as a teacher. I've never heard of such place even though I did heard about Julau town. Along the road there are a few interesting location that makes Merurun special. Among them are the Long Houses in Bekiok.

The picture on the left is taken from the same position and it shows the view from Bukit Sebelian or Sebelian Hill. Merurun is one a few places whitch still use generator as power supply and the Sungai Merurun (Merurun River) as water source. Apart from as a water source, the river also act a means of transportation during rainy seasons. The journey by the river is one experience that I will never forget. I took about one hour to went upstream to Sekolah Kebangsaan Nanga Merurun, or 45 minutes to went downstream to Nanga Merurun. Along the river, one can see various species of trees, among them the Tapang three (koompassia excelsa).

Sekolah Kebangsaan Nanga Merurun or SK Ng Merurun is where I'm posted. The school is about 7km from Nanga Merurun or 1 hour journey by 'perau' (a type of local long boat). Most of the time my navigator is Mr. Kampit or Apai Labi. The headmaster here is Mr. John Anak Tatan (picture on the left). Some of my fellow teachers who are also teaching here is Galang, Mohamad and Dexter. The locals speaks in Jako Iban (native tounge). In school, most of the staf communicate in Jako Iban. This is simply because we are Iban (Sea Dayak). The pupils here, 89 of them are mostly Iban, only 3 are mixed Bidayuh. Here we all group together as a family, teaching and do what we do best every Monday to Friday leaving our family.

Water transport, the long boat is one of the means to travel upstream. As we can see, our navigator in green t-shirt, Apai Labi.

This is how the road to Sk Ng Merurun. As you can see, there are ditches all along the muddy road. As I stood in one of the ditch, you can see how deep it was. The location where I stood was the place where Jacky's rear wheel got stucked. We both had to lift the back of the motorcycle to the upper track.

These ditch are no ordinary ditch. About 1 feet deep, each of these ditch is about 1 feet deep. Made by 4WD that came in and out of Merurun during rainy seasons. This was one of the challenge that each teacher go through every week when we go to Sk Ng Merurun. As we go deeper into Merurun, the road condition becomes worst.

This is one of the picture that I took while I was at the back of a Toyota Hillux. Here we can see the ditches made the 4WD clearly.

There is in some occasion, that it rain too much. Not only the road become unbearably hard for us, sometimes, it got flooded. There is a bridge in the middle and I'm trying to figure out how deep the water was. In this situation, motorcycle could never get to the other side so we wait for the tide to lower itself.

A cool video clip of Honda Civic.

Lately, recall for more than 428,000 Honda's cars was made due to a defect. Models that were involved were Civic, Accord and Element of models from 2003 and 2004 in the US. The rollaway recall totals 384,220 vehicles. Toyota Hilux or Vigo, which is better?

The Toyota Hilux (previously Stout in 1969) is a series of compact pickup trucks produced and marketed by the Toyota Motor Corporation. Thailand is where Hilux models are built and assembled for markets in European, Australian and Asian. The vehicle is then called 'Hilux Vigo', or simply 'Vigo'. So in other word, Toyota Hilux and Toyota Vigo is actually the same. Many customer mistaken that the two were different but in fact, they are the same. In Africa, it was the best selling vehicle as of december 2009, and are made in Argentina.

Hilux Vigo is the seventh generation of the Hilux series and had been throught some major facelift. In Malaysia, it only offer 2.5L and come in single cab and double cab.
For double cab version, the transmission come in either auto or manual transmission. The Innova MPV and the Fortuner SUV/PPV Hilux Vigo was spawned under Toyota's IMV program which used Hilux Vigo as basis.

As we can see, the Toyota Hilux Vigo is almost like an amphibian vehicle. It can cross streams, climb hills, drive in mud, desert and not to mention urban road.
